Feeling the Caribbean at The Fountains at Washington House

Residents and guests at The Fountains at Washington House were treated to another tropical experience during an afternoon of Mix & Mingle featuring The Oasis Island Sounds. The reggae beat and calypso music set the mood for everyone to get up and dance with each other while others enjoyed the steel pan sounds and the tropical drinks offered by dining room services. It was a remarkable experience for everyone and all reminisced about those days when they were on a cruise or vacationing in the Caribbean Islands.

About the Artist:
The Oasis Band, led by Peter Humphrey, performs regularly in many establishments throughout the Washington D.C. area. They also participated in several international festivals in the area and at the Air Jamaica and United Airlines Promotion Festivals. The band was created in 1988 by several students from the West Indies. As the members graduated, some returned to the Caribbean while others moved on to pursue their various fields of study. Mr. Peter Humphrey, the Oasis Band leader, decided to continue the Oasis spirit by hiring local musicians in the Washington D.C. area who were exposed to Caribbean music. The Oasis band’s aim is to reach out to a diverse community and provide everyone the opportunity to unite through music.
