So far everything is working out pretty well for my mother since her move to this community. She is doing well, and I’am satisfied. They have a friendly staff, and they have also been helpful and attentive. They do a good job with the cleanliness of the community, everything is well maintained. So far it has been good experience for us at this community.

My mother, an Alzheimer’s patient, has been at this facility for two years. Her experience has always been wonderful. She moved-in as an assisted living resident with a low level of care. Because WH offers five tiers of care, a person can truly age in place as a condition advances and the individual declines. Now, my mother’s in the final stages of her disease, living on WH’s skilled nursing facility (nursing home) floor. She continues to receive excellent care and the best treatment. She beams with delight when one of the nurses or CNAs enters her room (which is often), because she loves and trusts them.

My 92-year-old mother has been an independent living resident at TF@WH since early 2010.

The management and staff do a marvelous job of seeing to the interests, entertainment and needs of their residents. Every facility of this nature goes thru changes, but at TF@WH, all of those have been very positive.

My mother’s very hard to please, but everything that can be done for her is done for her at TF@WH. That’s a real comfort to her family, for none of us live in the NOVA area.

The place that my mom is in is called The Fountains at Washington House. She has been there before for rehab, and she really likes the place. So when we need to move her in January, that’s where we will move her. They are a nice group of people. Overall, it has been a good place. They are taking good care of her, and we are happy with it. It is a good building. It is a nice environment. Other places may be better, but right now, it works for my mom. I’m really not concerned with the activities. I am just looking for a good place for mom to live. The rooms are very nice.

This assisted living facility was the best option for me and, of course, for my mother. She is 78 years old and she needed someone to take care of her, because neither I nor my husband could do that anymore, as we were very busy with our jobs and with our son. The Fountains at Washington House offered us the possibility to look after her indirectly and this was very useful for us. The people who took care of her were very experienced and they were also very pleasant people. My mother really enjoyed talking with them, especially about her hobby, cooking. Also, there were many other facilities that made her very happy, even she was not with her family, but in an unknown place for her. I have to thank The Fountains at Washington House because of their attention and care for my mother and all her needs. This Assisted living facility helped me and I would also recommend it for people who need it.

This is the Ritz of the assisted living facilities. They provide excellent service and the employees are very kind. They have all kinds of doctors over there which are specialists in their fields. You feel as if you have entered the Buckingham Palace once you have entered the facility. A simple one bedroom apartment feels like a Presidential Suite and you feel that you are the king of the universe when you stand in the balcony. They have a number of facilities over there including a full sized kitchen. They have workshops, snooker tables and a fitness centre/gymnasium over there. They even have a computer room, club house, garden and a beauty parlour in there! They have a cozy library too where you can lie down on a really soft carpet. All together, you feel you’re home. The only problem can be a bit more cash that you have to shell out but i’ll make sure that when i grow old, that is the facility I will be admitted to.

The Fountains at Washington House is a lovely and very vibrant community. The salesperson was very good and took the time to answer questions and concerns. I had a meal, and the food was good. The chef explained to us the vegetarian options available. The rooms were nice and spacious. It didn’t have too much outdoor space, but it’s in a residential neighborhood.

My parents have been residents at the Fountains since December 2013. We are all very happy with the decision for them to move here from Bethany Beach, Delaware. EVERYTHING is taken care of for them, and if it isn’t, all we need to do is ask. The staff are friendly and caring. They all know my parents and look out for them. They have made friends and they participate in the activities, which are top-notch. Last winter, my mom suffered a fall late at night. The nursing staff managed her transport to the hospital, including all her medicare and medication information. When she was discharged from the hospital, she came back to the rehab center which is in the same building. There, she worked with the Fountains resident therapists who got her back to health and ready to return to her apartment. The best part was that my dad was able to be with her all day because everything is in the same building. I highly recommend the Fountains.

I know the place only from the perspective of a resident who doesn’t need much help and is in Independent Living. What I value is the very nice life you can live here: the good food, the classes/courses, the high standard of art training and actually very good painting done by residents that other residents can enjoy and maybe even buy, the greenery-surrounded dining room, the chateau-like patterned parquet, the fresh flower arrangements…. I think it’s a GREAT place, and the cost is the best I found in the region.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. The Fountains seemed like a good balance of quality and price. It was not the nicest place we saw, but for what they charge it was a very nice looking community. It was clean and well kept, and the staff all seemed friendly.

[Removed] was easy to talk to and was extremely in tune to the needs of those aging. My situation did not seem unique to her which added a level of comfort unmatched by anyone else I’ve spoken with as I’m making decisions about my mom’s care. This was my clear choice for a provider when the time comes to coordinate care for my mom. One of the residents reached out to her and spoke jokingly and fondly, creating just the touch necessary to help me to be confident about the possibility of my mom being there.

My sister is doing well at this community and I am pleased with everything they have done for us. They keep the community very clean, it is very nice and well-kept. The staff have been very welcoming and helpful. She has tried out a few new activities. They offer many through out the week. The food is good, she enjoys the meals. It has been a good experience and I would recommend it.

We have a lovely, large, three-bedroom apartment and are most happy with it. The support staff has been most helpful with some of our move-in needs like reconnecting stereo speakers and quickly replacing a beeping fire alarm battery. People have been very friendly and inviting. All in all it has been a very good move and we thank you for all your help and suggestions. Best part – we didn’t have give them all our money up front!

The reason I scored a 4 is there is always room for improvement. It’s a beautiful place. The food is very good and I have tried it several times. Everything has been handled very well. The staff is very accessible. They are very caring people. They have the aptitude to handle concerns. They are willing and accommodating to individual preferences. They do everything they can to be inclusive. They always ask if there is anything they can do to improve the experience for my father-in-law. I’m confident that things will continue to improve and we are very pleased.

Everything has been going good for my loved one. The staff are all being very attentive and communicate well with the family. My loved one is getting all of his care needs met. The meals and the activities have also been good as well. I would recommend this community. The care is great and the services offered are good as well.

This review is only for the Independent Living side. The care services are well within expectations, and the staff is all very friendly. I would rate the food as a 4, because it could be a little better. Sometimes, it is not prepared properly. Also, breakfast is included in the rent, but the breakfast options are very limited. It is like a contintental breakfast, and only offered for a limited time during the morning. This may not be suitable for people who do not like getting up early. If there are alternative options for variety and maybe room delivery, they were not clearly explained to us. However, they did impress us with their quick response to maintenance requests. It wasn’t even an hour, it was within minutes!

My mother in law lives in independent living. She loves the activities there. She has participated in discussion groups and also the New Year’s Eve gathering. We’re really pleased with the facility. We didn’t know she would get involved with the residents or the staff there.

I’m truly stunned by all the negative reviews that came after my own, original comments.  I’m also cynical, thinking that one or more of the comments might have been written by a competitor’s employees.   (How unusual that 2 scathingly negative reviews were posted on the same day.  I believe it’s called “Astroturfing.”)

My mother has lost most of her activities of daily living, is fully incontinent, and can be mouthy, mean, and difficult.  The 3rd floor staff treats her wonderfully.  She’s kept very clean; during 1-1/2 years at WH, Mom has never suffered from a UTI or diaper rash, which are very common among incontinent people.

At least several times per week, I hide behind corners, or outside of residents rooms, and listen to the interactions between staff and residents.  I always hear kind, patient discussions.  I’ve never heard a staff member speak harshly or inappropriately.  And, yes, the employees speak English (many of them were born in Sierra Leone or Ghana, and both are English-speaking countries).

Once, I complained to management because a new CNA had mocked and laughed at one of my mother’s Alzheimer’s-induced remarks.  The CNA was fired the next day.

I visit Mom every day, so I chat frequently with other residents on her floor and from other locations within the building.  I’ve never heard a complaint.  In fact, one of the residents spent his entire career managing eldercare facilities; he told me that he’s never been in a place as pleasant and well-run as Washington House, including the facilities that he’d managed himself.

My parents are in their mid to late 80″s and recently moved into the fountains. The staff at the fountains really made a positive difference. From move in to getting settled everyone was helpful and thoughtful. The meals and services have also been great.

If you ever face the agonizing challenge of placing a parent, or other loved one, in an age-in-place facility, please consider the Fountains at Washington House.

Mom had been in several facilities before a stroke of good luck landed her at Washington House.  Her previous “homes” were horror stories beyond belief; WH is a caring, well-run place.  Mom — who’s in the 6th of Alzheimer’s 7 stages — is treated with care and kindness.  The building is beautiful and well-maintained, the amenities are fabulous (hint — WH’s Sunday brunch, served in a lovely dining room, is the best deal in Alexandria), and the nursing staff is sweet and attentive.

Yes, I know what I’m writing about.  I live nearby, and I visit Mom daily.  WH never fails to please.  I’m grateful to know that my Mom’s in such good hands.
